My Core Beliefs
I firmly believe in, and live by, the 80/20 Rule - I follow a very clean and healthy approach through diet and exercise 80% of the time, then allow myself some freedom 20% of the time to enjoy what I like without feeling deprived.
Nutrition is 90% of the equation when it comes to great health. Healthy eating habits and a good diet accomplish more than exercise alone.
Getting the body I want does not take torturous hours in the gym! In fact, mounting evidence indicates the opposite is true. I train no more than 20-30 minutes each day, 4-5 days per week on average.
Eating foods that are as whole as possible and minimally processed is the best way I know of to feel better and eat healthily.
Strength training is extremely important for women for muscle toning, increased metabolism and strong bones.
Supplements are important, but they are only that, supplements. I take a few vital nutrients to support my health, in addition to clean and healthy eating habits.
Sugar is NOT your friend! Eliminating excess sugar from my diet helps me avoid weight gain, improves my energy and decreases my risk of diabetes, heart disease and a host of other health issues crippling our population.
Protein IS your friend. It keeps me satisfied for longer and doesn’t spike my blood sugar like carbohydrates. I certainly don’t believe in over-consumption of protein, however, I do think it very important to get the right amount as needed.
And believe it or not, Fat is also your friend, if it’s the right kind. The notion that fat makes you fat, or causes disease is finally being put to rest. I eat generous amounts of olive and coconut oil, and nuts or nut butter every day. My cholesterol and weight are both very healthy.
Diet and exercise are only part of the equation. After all, we are but the sum of all our parts. That’s why it’s so important to work on you, all of you.
Health coaching provides the accountability and support many people need to shift their thinking and habits to create positive momentum for a healthy lifestyle.
